In an English-speaking country, cutlery refers to knives, forks and spoons (eating utensils). Everyone gets confused from time to time about which utensil to use. The basic rule is to start from the outside and work inwards (towards your plate).

在說英語的國家，cutlery是指刀，叉和勺子(也就是進餐時用的器具)。人們經常會搞不清到底該用哪種餐具來吃哪道菜。基本的規則是從外到里(從離盤子最遠的地方開始)。

就餐英語須知3 ：

During the meal, if you need to leave the table to go to the bathroom, simply say “Please excuse me for a moment.” You should also do this if you need to answer a phone call. While you can leave your cell phone on silent mode, it is more polite to turn it off.

在進餐時，如果你需要接電話或是離開餐桌去洗手間，你可以簡單地說一聲”Please excuse me for a moment.”你可以將你的電話設置成靜音模式，如果能關機的話會更為禮貌。

Slurping (making a ‘slurp’ sound with your mouth) is something you should avoid at all costs! Be especially careful not to slurp when you are having soup or noodles!

Even if you have eaten a lot, your host will often try to encourage you to eat more. If you’ve really had enough, say “Thank you, but I really couldn’t eat another bite” or “I’m stuffed!”, which is an informal way of saying ‘very full’.

即使你已經吃了很多， 主人可能還是要你再吃一點。如果你真的已經吃飽了， 你可以說：”Thank you, but I really couldn’t eat another bite”(謝謝，但是我真得吃不下了)或者是”I’m stuffed!”(我太飽了)，這是’very full’的非正式說法。

就餐英語須知 6 ：

Indicate you have finished eating by ‘closing’ your knife and fork, (putting them together on your plate). You can say “What a delicious meal! Thank you so much.” to show your appreciation. Wait for everyone to finish before leaving the table.

如果你想表明你已經吃飽了， 你可以把你的刀叉并攏( 一起放在你的盤子上) 。你可以說：”What a delicious meal! Thank you so much.”，以此表達你的謝意。在所有人都吃完后，你才可以離開餐桌。

就餐英語須知 7 ：

It is considered rude to reach across the table. If you need the salt, or would like a dish that is not in your immediate area, you can say “Please pass the ...”.

探過身子伸到桌子的另一邊夠東西是非常不禮貌的。如果你需要鹽，或是你想吃某道菜，而你又夠不到，你就可以說”Please pass the ...(“請把……遞給我，好嗎?)
