【故事梗概】

Susan心里惦記著下午的業務會議，她想要回去工作。Harry和Michelle的失望使Susan決定改變自己的工作計劃。

Susan: Oh, it’s a quarter to four, and I have a production meeting at four.

Harry: I planned to take you for a ride in Central Park in a horse and carriage.

Susan: Harry, I’d love to, but I have work to do.

Harry: OK, We’ll walk back to your office with you. It’s so nice out. I decided to forget about my accounting problems and just enjoy this beautiful spring day. Take the time, Susan.

Susan: I know I should, but… well, there are too many things to do.

Harry: I understand. I’ll go for a ride with Michelle.

Susan: Right. Well, I had a really nice time.

Harry: So did I.

Michelle: So did I. I’m sorry you can’t come with us, Susan.

Susan: So am I.

Harry: Bye-bye.

Susan: Harry! Michelle! Can you wait till I make a phone call?

Harry: Sure.

【語言點精講】

1. I planned to take you for a ride in Central Park in a horse and carriage.

我原來計劃帶你到中央公園坐馬車兜風的。

take (you) for a ride: 帶（你）去坐車。 take for是 短語動詞，帶（某人）去（乘車，散步等）。

Central Park: 中央公園。紐約市的中央公園位于曼哈頓（Manhattan）中心，是美國最大的公園之一。園內可供徒步健行、慢跑、騎自行車，還可以乘四輪馬車（carriage）游覽，公園旁的大都會博物館（ Metropolitan Art Museum）則更是世界聞名的藝術宮殿。

2. It’s so nice out.

外面天氣真好。在此out意思為 “outside”。

3. I decided to forget about my accounting problems and just enjoy this beautiful spring day.

我決定忘掉我那些會計上的問題，只是享受一下這美好的春日。

decide to do sth.: 決定做某事，下定決心做某事。

forget about (sb./sth./doing sth.): 忘記，忘掉(某人/某事/做某事)。

4. Take the time.

花這點時間吧。不要吝惜這個時間。在這里Harry的意思是說：Take a break from your work and be with us.

5. I had a really nice time.

我今天過得很高興。這是和朋友、熟人告別時常用的說法。

6. So did I.

so+助動詞（情態動詞）+名詞或代詞: 這一簡捷地表示肯定的相同事物或狀況的說法中，中間的助動詞或情態動詞由前面句子來決定。

如本情境中Susan說了“Well, I had a really nice time. ”，Harry和Michelle回應“So did I.” (相當于“I also had a nice time.”)

又如下面一句: Michelle對Susan說“I’m sorry you can’t come with us, Susan.” 這次Susan的回答則是“So am I. ”(相當于“I am also sorry I can’t go with you. ”)
