冠詞的講解及用法(3)
定冠詞基本用法:
1)特指某人、某事
Wellington is the capital of New Zealand. 惠靈頓是新西蘭的首都。
This is the classroom where we often attend lectures. 這是我們常上課的教室。
Where are the other students? 其他學(xué)生在哪兒?
This is the head of our delegation.這是我們代表團(tuán)團(tuán)長(zhǎng)。
2)指世上獨(dú)一無(wú)二的事物
We have friends all over the world .我們的朋友遍天下。
The moon goes around the earth .月亮繞著地球轉(zhuǎn)。
The sun is rising in the east .太陽(yáng)在東方冉冉升起。
They have launched several satellites into the outer space .他們已向外層空間發(fā)射了幾顆人造衛(wèi)星。
3)重提前文中提到過(guò)的人或事物(即文中第二次出現(xiàn)的人或事物)
He, suddenly, saw an isolated house at the foot of the mountain. And curiosity made him approaching the house. 他突然看到山腳下有一棟孤獨(dú)的房子;好奇心驅(qū)使他向那棟房子走了過(guò)去。
Last weekend, I met a girl at the party given by my friend. And the girl happens to be one of my former schoolmates. 上周末，我在朋友舉行的聚會(huì)上遇到了一位女孩;那位女孩碰巧是我的一個(gè)老同學(xué)。
4)說(shuō)話人和聽(tīng)話人都熟悉的人或事物
Be sure to bring me the book when you come next time.
你下次來(lái)一定要將那本帶給我。
-Where to go Jack ? -To the library.
杰克，你去哪里?-去圖書(shū)館。
-Do you know where the dictionary is ?
你知道那本詞典在哪兒?jiǎn)?
-It’s on the desk by the computer.
在電腦旁邊的書(shū)桌上。
5)用于序數(shù)詞、形容詞的最高級(jí)形式、和表示方位的名詞前
Thanksgiving Day is on the 4th Thursday in November. 感恩節(jié)在每年十一月的第四個(gè)星期四。
Changjiang is the longest river in China. 長(zhǎng)江是中國(guó)最長(zhǎng)的河流。
Japan lies to the east of China .日本位于中國(guó)的東面。
He is one the most famous football stars in the world. 他是世界最著名的足球明星之一。
6)間或用于單數(shù)的可數(shù)名詞前表示泛指
The compass was invented in China.指南針是中國(guó)發(fā)明的。
The horse is a useful animal .馬是有用的動(dòng)物。
The tiger is in danger of extinct .老虎有絕種的危險(xiǎn)。
The monkey is a clever animal. 猴是一種聰明的動(dòng)物。
注：這種"泛指"是從整個(gè)屬類(lèi)的意義上說(shuō)，而不是"用一個(gè)人或物來(lái)說(shuō)明整個(gè)屬類(lèi)的 特點(diǎn)"。也就是說(shuō)，屬前者情況時(shí)加用定冠詞表示泛指，屬后者情況時(shí)則加不定冠詞表示泛指。
7)用于某些由普通名構(gòu)成的專(zhuān)有名詞前
the People’s Republic of China 中華人民共和國(guó)
the United States of America 美利堅(jiān)合眾國(guó)
the Ming Dynasty 明朝 the Great Wall長(zhǎng)城
the Great Cultural Revolution文化大革命
8)用于某些詞組中。這種用法是約定束成的，我們只有遵從而無(wú)旁的選擇。
in the morning ( afternoon , evening )上午(下午，晚上)
go to the cinema 看電影 on the whole總體上
to the best of就……所及 the sane as 和……一樣
out of the question不可能的 on the one hand一方面
on the other hand 另一方面 on the average一般說(shuō)來(lái)
on the contrary相反地 in the least 一點(diǎn)，絲毫
in the long run從長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)來(lái)看 in the event of 萬(wàn)一
in the final analysis歸根結(jié)底
9)定冠詞+形容詞使形容詞名詞化
We always stand for the oppressed and the exploited. 我們永遠(yuǎn)支持受壓迫、受剝削的人們。
The aged are well taken care of in the community. 在這個(gè)社區(qū)，老人得到了很好的照顧。
She was fond of writing about the unusual. 她喜歡寫(xiě)一些古怪的題材。
The school for the deaf and the blind is just newly built. 那所聾啞人學(xué)校是剛剛新建的。
